About the Department
Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1972. There are three full time dedicated and strongly motivated faculty in the department. The department offers undergraduate programmes for faculty of science and commerce (F.Y and T.Y.). The department also offers M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the year 2021-22. Every year our students are selected for various training programmes like TPM, MTTS, MINI MTTS programmes which are organized by NBHM and Dept. of Atomic Energy, Government of India. In the year 2008- 09, 2012-13 and 2013-14 our students were ranked first position in the Mathematics Merit List of University of Mumbai. Some of our students are pursuing/completed their Post-Graduation/Ph.D./PDF from reputed institutes in/ outside India.

In the year 2010-11 our department received Basic Scientific Research (BSR) Grant from UGC, Govt. of India, New Delhi. For the year 2017-20, we are awarded with ‘STAR COLLEGE SCHEME’ from Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

To create interest among students towards mathematics, we organize Inter collegiate Maths Exhibition ‘Fun-In-Math’ every year. We had organized Quiz Competition 'Matheletics-2015' at under graduate level to ignite the thinking ability of the students. In the year 2019-20 we hosted mini-MTTS (Mathematical Training and Talent Search) programme in our campus from 4th November to 9th November 2019 which was funded by MTTS fund, DBT STAR College Scheme and our college management. We had also organized 'MATH BATTLE 2020' under DBT STAR College Scheme for our B.Sc. students to promote learning of mathematics through games. Department has started IIT JAM lecture series from Eminent Professors and Alumni lecture series from distinguished Alumni on account of Golden Jubilee Celebration of college from the year 2021-22.

Our department earnestly work towards motivating undergraduate students to pursue mathematics at higher level and preparing them for the same. We regularly organize guest lectures by eminent professors from the field of mathematics and applied mathematics to strengthen the subject.
