Co-curricular Achievements

NCC

NCC at B.K. Birla College is since the very inception of the college. The College has total sanctioned strength of 330 cadets out of which 100 cadets are of Army Boys (6 Mah. Bn. NCC), 80 cadets of Army Girls (1 Mah. (G) Bn) and 150 Cadets of Naval Boys and Girls (1 Mah. Naval Unit NCC). 10 Cadets have been enrolled in 1 Mah Air Sqn (open unit). Accordingly, there are 5 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) to take care of these units. It has maintained a high standard of character and discipline. To the best of our knowledge, College has maximum strength of cadets in the country and probably the only college in the Country with all the three wings of Cadets.

The NCC activities began in the month of June with the extension of the II and III year Cadets and the enrollment of I year Cadets for the year 2016-17. The following activities were conducted throughout the year.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY:
International Yoga day was celebrated by the cadets of B.K. Birla College on 21st June 2016. 220 Cadets and 5 ANO’s participated in this activity. Dr. Amit Mishra from SVYASA institute of Yoga demonstrated various Asans to the Cadets.

VRUKSHA DINDI:
As per tradition Vruksha Dindi was organized on Sunday, 31st July 2016 in collaboration with NSS unit of B.K. Birla College, Friend of the Trees, Kalyan Branch, KDMC, Samajik Vanikaran Vibhag, Thane. 340 cadets and 5 ANO’s of NCC participated in the Dindi.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION:
Hon’ble Principal Dr. Naresh Chandra unfurled National Flag on 15th August 2016. He inspected the parade and expressed her satisfaction on the performance and turnout of the cadets. ‘Ajadi Daud’ of 8 kms. From B.K. Birla College to Durgadi Fort and Back was conducted by the cadets to mark their respect to the martyrs of India who lost their lives for the Freedom Struggle of India.

HERITAGE WALK:
This year India Celebrated 70 years of Independence. As per the guide lines of HRD Ministry, ‘Azadi 70’ was celebrated for one week from 16th August 2016 to 22nd August 2016. On this occasion B.K. Birla College NCC Girls had participated in ‘Heritage Walk’ where the cadets walked from B.K. Birla College to Subhedar Wada and further to Durgadi Fort to mark their celebration giving respect to the heritage of Ancient City,- Kalyan. 40 NCC Army Girls participated in this walk with their ANO, Lt. Suvarna Jadhav.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP:
Blood donation camp was conducted on 22nd October 2016 at B.K. Birla College. 62 cadets of Naval Wing NCC donated 300 cc of Blood each.

PEACE MARCH:
To commemorate the birth anniversary of the great leader of nation- “Mahatma Gandhi” a ‘Peace-March’ was organized by NCC Naval wing in association with The Gandhian Study Centre College on 2nd Oct. 2016. 270 cadets along with 5 ANO’s participated in this Peace March.

NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP:
13 cadets of the three wings of NCC participated in the national Integration camp at different parts of Country.

ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP:
More than 150 cadets of NCC attended Annual Training camp at various locations conducted by 1 Mah. Naval Unit, 6 mah. Bn. NCC and 1 Mah (G) Bn NCC.

LOCAL TREKING:
One day trekking camp was organized by NCC unit on 4th Oct. 2016 at Kalavantin Gadh, Khopoli. Cadets along with 5 NCC officers walked 760 m High Mountain in a day.

NCC DAY:
To demonstrate the different activities of NCC to the Society and other Non NCC students of College, B.K. Birla College NCC Units celebrated NCC day on 16th Feb. 2017 at B.K. Birla College Parade Ground. Maj Gen. D. S. Gill, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate Maharashtra was Chief Guest for this Programme. He took Salute from Ceremonial Guard Comprising of 4 wings of NCC. Different activities like Semephore, section attack and Bannet fighting, Civil defence and disaster management, Yoga, Culturals including group dance and Lezim was demonstrated to the audience. Commodore S R Gouniyal, Director NCC Directorate Maharashtra, Group Captain P. Bakshi, Group Commander, Mumbai ‘B’ Group, Colonel Cordozo, Cammanding officer, 6 Mah. Bn. NCC, Colonel Mikharji, Co 1 Mah (G) Bn NCC and Maj. Mehta, Adm officer, 6 Mah. Bn NCC were present on this occasion. Mr. Subodh Dave, Joint President (P & A) and Vice Charman, B.K. Birla College, Governing Council presided over the function. The cadets, ANOs and other Students of other Colleges and Schools of Kalyan and Ulhasnagar area also attended the function.

RDC-2017:
It is matter of great pride for all Birlaites that 4 cadets of our NCC Army Girls Wing Participated in the Republic Day Cultural Programme ( Lezim) at New Delhi.

SELECTION OF CADETS AS COMMISSIONED OFFICERS:
Two of out Ex Cadets Cadet PO Shailendra Yadav and Cadet Captain Aman Singh have got recommended to Join IMA and AFA respectively. Presently both are taking trainings at IMA Dehradun and AFA Hydrabad respectively.

CM SCHOLARSHIP:
Cadt. Sachin Bhangre has received the Chief Minister Scholarship from Government of Maharashtra.

CELEBRATION OF REPUBLIC DAY:
As per our tradition we celebrate Republic day at very large scale with ceremonial parade. It was matter of great Pride for all NCC Cadets and officers that their own NCC officer Maj. G. S. Shikhare was Chieg Guest for this occasion. He inspected the parade and received the salute at the saluting Dias. Principal Dr. Naresh Chandra an Maj. Shikhare motivated the cadets by their speech. Best Cadets were awarded Trophies and Medals.

VICE CHANCELLOR’S BANNER:
The most prestigious Vice Chancellor’s banner was awarded to B.K. Birla College NCC Units for being Best NCC Unit amongst the Colleges affiliated to University of Mumbai for the Twelth Time.

RELINQUISHMENT OF MAJ. G. S. SHIKHARE:
Maj.G. S. Shikhare has been successfully completed the journey of ANO from last 24 years and hand over the charge of NCC Army Boys to CTO Mr. Prakash Sansare, Head, Department of Mathematics on 2nd January 2017. We welcome Mr. Prakash to NCC family and wish him great tenure ahead as a ANO, NCC Army Wing. Dr. Pranjali Mahskar is looking after NCC Air Wing at B.K. Birla College. She is likely to be appointed as CTO in Open Unit of 1 Mah. Air. Sqn. NCC, Mumbai.
