Co-curricular Achievements


B.K. Birla College NSS unit has strength of 250 volunteers and three program officers.

In the academic year 2016-17 following activities were carried out.

The activities of NSS begin with the celebration of The International Yoga Day was organized on 21.06.2016. More than 138 students and NSS volunteers participated in the program.

Save Electricity Campaign was organized on 27th June 2016. The Basic of electricity, Units of Electricity, Power consumption etc were covered in the training. The skit is set up by the team of 12 volunteers. The skit will be presented in college and adopted area.

The Tree Plantation of Medicinal trees was conducted in the college campus on 26th June 2016 by NSS volunteers and 15 medicinal saplings were planted.

Ashadhi Ekadashi Dindi was organized by Century Rayon, Shahad on 15th July 2016. More than 214 NSS volunteers participated in this dindi.

The Orientation Program was organized on 9th July -17th July 2016 the objectives of opting NSS were illustrated by all the Program Officers to the students of F.Y.B.A. F.Y.B.Com, F.Y.B.Sc. as well as for the students of S.Y.B.A. S.Y.B.Com, S.Y.B.Sc in six different sessions.

Guru Poornima was organized on 19th July 2016. All the Volunteers participated in this program. Vice Principal CA C. D. Phadke educated the volunteers for the new education system . Many professors were felicitated in this activity by the NSS volunteers. The Poster Competition was organized on 22 July 2016. 122 NSS Volunteers participated in the competition and painted the posters on various social issues.

The Workshop on Innovation and Entrepreneurship was organized on 27th July 2016 . The objective of the workshop was to motivate the NSS volunteers for the Self Employment. Miss.Swar Kranti, Womens development and welfare association motivated the students for self employment. 113 NSS volunteers were present for the workshop

NSS Unit has Adopted Slum areas around the college. The volunteers create awareness in the slum dwellers. The socio economic survey is carried out in the area on 22 August 2016. The cleanliness drive was carried out during 8 to 13 August 2016. The Skit is presented to create awareness about cleanliness. The other skits were also presented on Sexual harassment of Women, Women empowerment and Child abuse. The Literacy Program is conducted every Saturday for the Slum-dwellers. NSS Volunteers has designed some games to achieve Mathematical ability amongst the kids of Slum-dwellers.

The registration of the NSS volunteers was carried out on 15.07.2016 to 20.07.2016. The enrolment list is sent to the university on 20.08.2016

Vrikshadindi was organized on 31st July 2016. The objective of Vrikshadindi was to propagate scientific temperament in the localities of Kalyan. 1500 students of various schools and colleges including eminent personalities and local residents were participated in Vrikshadindi. The guest for this program was Shri. Narendra Pawar (MLA Kalyan), Mayor Mr. Rajan Deolekar ( Mayor KDMC), Dr. Sanjay Shinde, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Dr. Naresh Chandra and many other guest in Kalyan City. They planted some trees in college premises and started the function. More than 200 NSS Volunteers were present for the program and planted the trees and made this activity a grant success.

Swatchta Abhiyan was carried out in association with KDMC on 13th August 2016 and the premises of the college were cleaned by the volunteers. The Oath Ceremony was conducted and all the NSS Volunteers have taken a oath of Cleanliness.

Candle March was organized on 14th August at Different places of the city in the evening. Shivaji Chowk, Mahatma Phule Chowk, Khadakpada Chaowk, Gandhi Chowk etc. The candles were lit to pay Homage to the Soldiers of India. All the Program Officers, Staff members and NSS Volunteers were present for the march.

Independence Day was celebrated by NSS Unit of B.K. Birla College by National Flag hoisting. NSS volunteers presented Skits and performed Cultural activities. The skits were then presented in adopted area. The theme of the skits was Sexual harassment of Women and Women empowerment and Child abuse.

The Leadership Training Program camp was organized from 13th August 2016 to 17th August 2016. The screening of volunteers for this program was done at Saket College. Two Volunteers attended the Program

NRD/SRD and Utkarsh camp was organised on 28th August 2016. Selection program was organized by NSS Unit of University of Mumbai at Saket College. . Two NSS volunteers of B.K. Birla College were present in the camp

Nirmalya Collection in Ganesh Festival is the important activity of NSS volunteers. This program was organized in association with KDMC. Twenty students have taken training from KDMC and they show active participation in this drive on 6th , 9th ,11th and 15th September 2016

Cancer Awareness and Organ Donation awareness was organized on 17th September 2016. Dr. Amit Ghanekar , Member of Cancer Society of India deliver wonderful speech on causes of cancer , role of diet, importance of vegetarian food . The importance of organ donation in the society and social responsibility was told. He also highlighted the various institutes and procedures of Organ donation.

Vote awareness campaign was done on 18th September 2016 in association with Election department. The objective of the campaign is to imbibe the values of Democracy amongst the young minds and to understand the values of System. The Voter list was prepared and submitted to Election Commission.

The pulse polio immunization training and Survey of Leprosy patient was done on 18th September 2016 in association with KDMC . 20 volunteers are actively involved in this training. Mrs. Shinde along with their team motivated NSS volunteers from KDMC. NSS volunteers were actually involved in the field.

Blood donation was done on 22nd Oct 2016 with Sankalp Blood bank. 66 units were donated.

Residential Camp was held from24th to 30th December 2016 at Bhawale Village.

Health Check up Camp was also organized during this camp. Around 78 villagers and 25 volunteers were benefited by this camp.
